The chaotic streets are filled with common stories of abus...。五个年轻人艾什（布鲁斯•坎贝尔 Bruce Campbell 饰）、雪莉（Ellen Sandweiss 埃伦•桑德维斯饰）等相约一起自驾游，他们预订了一座坐落于深山里房子作为野外落脚点，他们翻山越岭终于找到了这间小木屋。晚上，他们发现了这间屋子主人留下来的一本封面吓人的古怪的书和一部老式录音机。屋子主人在录音留言里说他在研究远古流传的丧礼和一些咒语，而那本古怪的书名字就叫“死亡之书”；根据书上说人死了其实只是保持睡眠状态，并没有真正死去，通过咒语可以重新活过来。接着录音机里就播放了一段令人毛骨悚然的咒文。随后，恐怖的事情开始陆续发生。。
