这是Bravo历史上首个有剧本节目。该剧根据同名系列畅销书改编，故事描述著名励志自助书女作家Abby Iovine（Lisa Edelstein，《豪斯医生》）总是在书中体现出自己的「生活睿智」，可事实上她早已与丈夫分居，刚刚年满四十岁的她只能独自带着孩子在洛杉矶生活。她不停向已经离婚的朋友寻求生活建议，而她的生活也因此发生出人意料的巨变。。故事發生在冰島的房地產狂熱時期，一位加拿大籍的醫學生從患有思覺失調的外婆那裡繼承了一棟老房子。許多房地產開發商都催促她賣掉房子，她收到一條神秘的消息，迫使她調查家族秘辛。她發現了一段隱藏許久的家庭悲劇，外婆的死也存在諸多疑點，但她不知道自己正惹禍上身。。This is a story about people in love with cinema, and a country going through its most difficult times.
