The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely. The tamped-down acting and the spare, tense visual rhetoric suggest a state of moral crisis as well as the response—as much in style as in substance—that it demands.。本剧是1987～1992年香港亚洲电视公司根据正史与民间野史编写的剧集，动员了亚洲电视台的大部份艺员参与拍摄。该剧不但在香港造成了收视热潮，也在香港以外的地区受到相当程度的欢迎。剧名《满清十三皇朝》，源自民国八年（1919年）由“燕北老人”所著《满清十三皇朝秘史》。二者描写的俱为努尔哈赤建立的后金国与清朝共十二位皇帝。（包含十一代，同治帝和光绪帝为堂兄弟）。燕北老人因为皇太极（清太宗）将国号由“金”改“清”，年号亦由天聪改为崇德，算两个皇朝。故称之为“满清十三皇朝”。。苏若涵生产那天，亲眼目睹闺蜜许青青将她和自己的女儿调包。二十年来，苏若涵假装不知，精心培养闺蜜的女儿，而闺蜜却常常对苏若涵的“亲生女儿”动辄打骂。直到孩子升学宴那天，闺蜜拿着亲子鉴定要求换回孩子，尘封二十年的真相才终于要浮出水面……。
